  • "My girlfriend and I are going vegan for a week. Its been two days and I already feel like i’m going to die! I’m so hungry all the time and I just want to eat junk food! Please help."

    -Question submitted by Anonymous

    Dannielle Says:

    Oreos are vegan…

    Chips and Salsa is vegan…

    Hummus is vegan…

    French Fries are vegan…

UUGGHHH listen. I was vegan for a year. I really really really liked it. A big reason that I loved it, though, was bc I love to cook and I love to learn new recipes and it made me feel really really good. Don’t do it just cuz your booboo is doing it, find your own reasons, it’ll be a lot easier that way. OR just support her in her decisions and eat turkey sandwiches in front of her and be like ‘i’m so proud of you for being vegan’
and always remember… oreos are vegan.

    Kristin Says:

Plus, honey and ice cream are totally vegan.

    JUST KIDDING YOU GUYS.

The thing is…why are you going vegan for a week? It’s like, I understand eating healthy foods as a GENERAL RULE, or deciding to be vegan because YOU WANT TO BE VEGAN, but doing anything for a week just seems like torture that ends with you totally gorging on all of the non-vegan, non-healthy things you deprived yourself of for the past seven days.

    My thought is: go get a box of Oreos, sit down with your boo, and be like, “Hey boo,” {crunch crunch} “I think that instead of doing something really extreme for a week, we should think about the ways we want to be healthy and this way it’s easier for us to stick with it, and we –“ {crunch crunch} “-will be able to keep at staying healthy for longer because we won’t have to have this conversation over Oreos.” {crunch crunch}

  • "What should I be doing while I’m still in my 20s?"

    -Question submitted by Anonymous

    Dannielle Says:

Living your life to the fullest, dude. THE FULLEST.

Here’s the thing about your 20s (or 30s or 40s) it all depends on where you are in life, BUT CHANCES ARE now is a great time to do all the things you dream about in your head, but seem impossible. If there are 15 different cities you want to live in.. do it. Get dumb ole jobs to pay the rent and sublease for 6 months at a time. If you want to backpack across europe DO IT. If you want to collect $10,000 in credit card debt so you can go on four different cruises a month DO IT.

You are young, nothing is holding you back and here’s the kicker.. your dreams actually can come true. You LEGIT can follow your dreams and achieve them. The only thing that’s standing in the way of you having everything you want, is you.

I’ll tell you what you should be doing while you’re in your 20s. Figure out what you would do if NOTHING stood in your way, if you knew for a fact there was no way for you to fail, if money was no obstacle, if you knew all the people you needed to know and you had all the education you needed to have, figure out what that thing would be and do it. Do that thing. Do the thing that gets your heart racing and blood pumping and don’t let ANYONE tell you you can’t.

    Kristin Says:

Yep. Dannielle’s got this one, y’all.

The thing about your twenties is this: you are legitimately learning who you are as a grown-up person. In order to do that best you are going to have to take risks, feel like your world is spinning, be happier than you’ve ever been, be more confused that you’ll ever be, and go after the things you need until you’ve gotten them or learned an incredible lesson trying to get them.

I suggest you write a whole bunch of stuff down about your thoughts, your goals and your fears. Having a way to look back at the past few months when you feel overwhelmed is a great way to put life in perspective. Some of my scariest life-moments in my twenties were calmed when I looked back at my journal for the month prior and realized that I actually had done some, if not all, of the things that I had wanted to do.

Have fun. Take classes in the things that interest you and inspire you. Go see a bunch of movies. Decorate your walls with postcards that you collect at thrift stores. Travel to see your friends in different cities. Fall in love. Read the newspaper. Take yourself out to dinner. Ride your bike. Don’t make decisions based on where you want to be in twenty years…there is plenty of time for that in the future. This is the time when you go on the adventures that will inform those decisions when it is actually time to make them.

    Cool?

  • Happy Saturday, gaybeans!

    1. I think my ex is leading me on. Sigh.
    2. She told me she loved me after three weeks, and I said it back…but I didn’t mean it. What do I do?
